We are seeking a
Mechanical Design Engineer who is passionate about designing and building. The candidate should also have a desire to execute and guide mechanical
design and specification activities through the design phase of the product
development life cycle. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record
as a mechanical engineer from initial design to prototype transfer.




In your role as Mechanical Design Engineer at Kohler Ventures you will:Iteratively explore concept ideas by visualization and physical interactions using sketching, digital illustration, 3D CAD and renderings, hand-built physical mock-ups, and 3D prints.

Explore product architectures that consider details of how people would use and perceive the product, usability, ergonomics, and the human factors of the experience.

Create many diverse ideas to inspire and stimulate meaningful products and customer experiences, with consideration for mechanically-sound and feasible designs.

Work very closely with all new product development departments, especially Industrial Design, Product Engineering, Marketing, Purchasing, and Manufacturing, in a collaborative team atmosphere.

Refine concept designs into 3D parametric CAD, including the definition of part break-up with consideration for manufacturing and assembly.

Explore CMF (color, materials, and finishes) with samples and renderings to deliver a high-end and well-executed consumer product.

Ensure research synthesis and analysis quality within the design framework to generate customer insights and design inputs.

Lead new product development activities to generate innovative concepts and solutions for product fit, form and function.

Develop approaches to concept development and execute design research, product concept drawings, physical modeling, and product presentations.

Communicate all mechanical specifications and maintain design integrity throughout the development process.

Support, participate, and observe end-user research and assessment of existing and prototype solutions in real/simulated scenarios and help identify user needs.

Contribute as a leader to all phases of the design process, including brainstorming, developing concepts, creating prototypes, creating documentation, and ensuring alignment between industrial design and engineering teams.

Develop cross-functional relationships across the organization to ensure product, strategy, and design requirements are understood throughout the product design process.

Leverage human-centered design methods to solve user and feasibility challenges.



Skills/Requirements

The target profile:

10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with experience through the product development process of idea generation through concept development and testing.

A Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited educational institution.

Possesses a solid background in the design of mechanical components and systems using modern MCAD software such as Creo, including revision control.

Experience in consumer electronics, connected or smart home devices experience preferred.

A strong understanding of fundamental mechanical and design principles.

Research, understand, and ensure that the product and its associated mechanical components meets relevant safety and compliance standards.

Experience in planning design projects from collecting requirements, concept development and prototyping.

Create documentation, such as requirements documents, design documents, design review documents, to ensure quality and traceability.

Determine, document, and perform necessary changes for compliance and quality assurance.

Experience in a startup or incubator environment, iterating products from inception to launch and building an effective product and design team

A demonstrated history of accountability and performance delivery, leading teams to meet or exceed objectives.
Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on data-driven decision making.

Experience collaborating with internal multi-discipline teams for product, electrical and software development.

Written and basic English proficiency preferred.
