Job Summary:
1) - Responsible for providing WFF with safe and cost effective warehousing and logistics, including the development and refinement of all processes associated with transport and storage of incoming materials and finished goods. - Works closely with Production to provide the most cost effective transportation and storage -of incoming raw and pack materials while adhering to all food safety practices. - Works closely with Production and Sales to provide the most cost effective storage and transportation of finished products to meet customer time and quality requirements. - Will anticipate and cost effectively manage 3rd Party Logistics (3PL) outside cold storage when frozen materials storage requirements exceed WFF capacity.
2) Responsible for the end-to-end sourcing and procurement of goods and services required to support WFF operations. - Of critical importance to this role is the ability to develop a lean, reliable supply chain of national and global frozen fruit suppliers to meet the needs of WFF production. Works closely with Production to provide the most cost effective delivery of incoming raw and pack materials while adhering to all food safety practices.

Develops policy and directs and coordinates all warehousing, logistics, procurement, and purchasing activities. - -Responsible for continually improving performance as demonstrated through Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
Direct reports include: - Warehouse Leads, Transportation Coordinator, Purchasing Agents, and Buyers
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Leadership

  • Develop and implement sourcing, procurement, and vendor management strategy and tactics for WFF; document with Standard Operating Procedures and necessary Policy revisions
  • Lead the procurement team to ensure that the needs of WFF operations, including Production, are met
  • Assess and develop the skill sets of staff to meet the objectives of the organization
  • Continuously improve the performance of procurement processes and staff, and the performance of vendors critical to the WFF supply chain
  • Develop and implement logistics strategy and tactics for WFF; document with Standard Operating Procedures and necessary Policy revisions
  • Develop and implement cold storage strategy and tactics for WFF, including the utilization of 3PL cold storage when required; document with Standard Operating Procedures and necessary Policy revisions
  • Lead warehousing and transportation team, and manage 3PL partners to ensure that WFF products meet customer timing and delivery quality requirements
  • Assess and develop the skill sets of WFF warehouse and logistics staff to meet the objectives of the organization
  • Continuously improve the performance of WFF warehouse and logistics, and the 3PL's that support the department
  • Develop and implement a 5S plan for warehousing
  • Develop and implement a Management Standard Work (MSW) plan to ensure that all procedures and policies are being followed, imcluding, but not limited to, regular performance audits
  • Support all external and internal audits, including SQF, customer, and financial


  • Planning and Reporting

  • Support WFF Annual Operating Plan (AOP), including the budgets and plans to support the overall objectives of WFF
  • Develop a strategic sourcing strategy to support the AOP and long range objectives of the company
  • Establish, maintain, and improve KPI's and report at regular leadership meetings
  • In cooperation with Production and Quality, develop stringent quality standards for incoming raw and pack materials; work with vendors to develop sampling plans and contingenies when issues are discovered
  • Analyze, resolve, and report customer service issues associated with transportation and storage
  • Develop and maintain incoming materials and finished goods tracking in accordance with WFF ERP systems, and so as to ensure specific location tracking of all WFF raw, pack, and finished goods


  • Vendor Management

  • Lead Point of Contact for all WFF vendors, including 3PL's involved with WFF warehousing and logistics
  • Analyze, and improve performance of all WFF vendors, including 3PL's involved with WFF warehousing and logistics
  • Conduct audits of critical vendors, including 3PL warehousing so as to ensure the highest level of food safety, and to increase probablilty of successful external audits (e.g. SQF, customers)



    REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Required Bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or Logistics
  • 5+ years of - warehousing and logistics leadership in a medium size company
  • 5+ years of - purchasing/strategic sourcing experience
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook; must have experience working in ERP and warehouse management systems
  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma; training to at least the Green Belt level is desired with experience in applying these principles for problem solving, process design/improvement, and establishing a lean culture
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. - Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. - -Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram from and deal with several abstract variables. -

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. - While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to vibration. - The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and /or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and extreme cold. - The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. - The floors in the work area are wet and slippery and there is also fruit debris on the floor, requiring slip resistant shoes. -
