Sierra Meadows Behavioral Health provides counseling therapy to adults with a wide range of mental health conditions. Our residential treatment program serves those who are having difficulty coping in their home environment due to heightened mental health symptoms. This includes those struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, PTSD, moderate eating disorders, and more.The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor is primarily engaged in running education groups for patients. Reporting to the Program Director, the SUD Counselor is also responsible for documentation of patients' intake, progress, and discharge, as well as linking them with appropriate social, occupational, and educational resources as needed. The SUD Counselor works with the treatment team to plan and coordinate the client's progress through the continuum of care.OUR MISSIONSierra Meadows Behavioral Heath exists to help restore hope in the lives of those affected by mental health conditions. We offer a great work environment with flexible schedules.Essential Functions:Conducts group counseling with adults, focusing on drug and alcohol treatment.Admits new patients by completing the intake process and new patient orientation.Evaluates patients' needs for medical, psycho-social, psychiatric, and drug and alcohol treatment; reviews therapist and physician evaluations, treatment objectives, and plans.Monitors cases by verifying patients' attendance, observing and evaluating progress in treatment; advocating for needed services; obtaining additional resources; providing personal support.Maintains patients' records by reviewing case notes and documenting progress.Communicates patients' progress by participating in weekly interdisciplinary meetings and evaluations; disseminating results and obstacles to therapeutic team and family; identifying treatment influences.Prepares patients' discharge by creating discharge plans; coordinating discharge and post-discharge requirements; orienting and training family members; providing resources.Improves staff competence by providing educational resources; balancing work requirements with learning opportunities; evaluating the application of learning to changes in treatment results.Improves treatment results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; rewriting policies and procedures.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.Complies with state and federal regulations, professional ethics codes, and insurance regulations.Maintains and submits all documentation and billing as it relates to client services.Provides the Clinical Director with timely reports on any unusual occurrences that might impact the overall program operation or the health and safety of clients or employees.Follows all reporting requirements for incidents of Child Abuse, Elder Abuse, Adult Abuse, Dependent Adult Abuse, and Tarasoff warnings per California reporting laws.Other duties as assigned.WHO WE AREWe are the Central Valley's premier behavioral health treatment provider. Must be willing to work with a wide variety of symptoms related to substance abuse and mental health. Willing to work with multi-cultural populations and have an understanding for cultural diversity.Experience:Two years' experience in a behavioral health care setting.
