FOUNDRY GENERAL LABORJob SummaryResponsible for performing a variety of duties to make products that involve melting and pouring metal while supporting the direct labor operations of the foundry department. - -Responsibilities and Duties

• Shaking out molds and placing jackets and weights on each mold
• Moves sand, castings or other foundry materials onto conveyor
• Operating hand tools, machines and other foundry equipment
• Breaks sand molds from finished casting, using bar or hammer
• Pulls reinforcing wires from castings off of conveyor
• Visually inspect products for defects
• Assist all molders and at the appropriate time, dumping the poured molds into the shaker unit
• Successfully complete safety training, and demonstrate ability to comply with company safety and environmental policies and guidelines
• Maintain and perform housekeeping of general shop, including sweeping and shoveling sand, knocking out cores, cleaning cores, loading and unloading various materials
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
• Performs any and all other job-related tasks as assignedQualifications and Skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a foundry or manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to work different shifts per season demandPhysical Requirements
    • Standing - frequent to continuous

    • Bending/stooping - occasional
    • Squatting/kneeling - occasional
    • Gripping/manipulation - frequent
    • Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. on an occasional basis floor to waistWorking ConditionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles. The employee operates in a loud noise level environment. This position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and uses standard heavy equipment and tools. - All general foundry assignments are considered to be heavy industrial, and are repetitive in nature.The employee must wear a respirator, approved safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat and steel-toed shoes at all times.Casting your future with FVC!
